and care in producing her beautiful art work this week.

Investigating the Food we Eat

Following on from our Life Education visits with Harold, learning about a balanced diet and our digestive systems, on Wednesday 20th June we investigated the ingredients of some of the foods we buy from the supermarket.

We grouped the food products on our 'Food Traffic Lights', according to whether they are processed foods, foods from animals or food from the ground.  We made some interesting discoveries!

Commemorating Anzac Day

On Friday we met with our Buddy Class we each constructed a paper poppy and experimented with dough, clay and super-sand to construct a model on the theme of ANZAC Day.  We enjoyed being creative.

Later in the day at our special ANZAC assembly, we listened to an ANZAC song and all showed our respect with a minute of silence.

Get NZ Writing

For the past month, we have been working on the writing challenges presented by our Get NZ Writing package.  We waggled our ears, rolled our tongues, licked our elbows and crossed our eyes;  we did surveys; we found amazing sounding words; we found incredible facts and we wrote it all down.

We learnt how to write Found Poems and wrote some of our own:

We learnt about metaphors then wrote about ourselves using metaphors.

We learnt how to write postcards and look what our postcards turned into when we put them all together:

Now all of our writing is on its way to Boulcott School in Wellington.  We hope they love receiving our package as much as we enjoyed creating it.  We eagerly await the arrival of a package from them, opening the door to their world.
